John Chesebrough


John holds the professional insurance designations of CPCU, CLU, ChFC, AINS, ARM, AU and AIM. He has been an insurance instructor for more than five decades with most of that time associated with IEA. In 1989, he was made an Honorary Life Member of IEA. He has taught personal and commercial lines courses, online and classroom settings, which included CPCU, INTRO, AINS and prelicensing preparation for producers and adjusters.

Instructor Biography

His extensive property and casualty insurance underwriting career of 42 years was with Farmers Insurance Group which included middle and upper level managerial responsibilities. This included assignments in Human Resources and Actuarial. He developed numerous underwriting training programs and assisted with the editing of several insurance textbooks. He served four years with The Institutes Advisory and Examination Committee which worked with the AINS General Insurance Program to assist in developing national examinations.

He received numerous awards that recognized his significant contributions to the insurance industry.

He is an active member of SITE and served on the Board for four years. He is an active member of the CPCU Society and served in various leadership positions. He organized the first CPCU Chapter in Idaho and served as its first President. He is currently on the expert faculty of the “Big I” Virtual University to assist those insurance producers who have insurance questions. John has links with Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

John is committed to expanding the insurance knowledge of others through his teaching and networking activities as evidenced by his many years as an insurance instructor. He believes that the completion of insurance courses and attainment of insurance designations will have a beneficial impact on an insurance career.
