Tanya Thompson CPDM WCCA
Tanya Thompson is a Workers’ Compensation Specialist for Prestige Care, Inc. with over 10 years of progressive HR experience in the area of benefits, leave of absence, workplace accommodations and disability management in the Health Care industry.
In her current role, she coordinates workers’ compensation claims management, leave of absence, transitional work for occupational illness and/or injury, and ADA case management. Previous employment includes, Disability Case Manager for Kaiser Permanente Northwest Region and Benefits/Leave of Absence/Early Return to Work Consultant for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oregon. Tanya has earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Resources at Kaplan University and is a licensed Workers’ Compensation Claims Examiner in the State of Oregon as well as a Certified Professional Disability Management professional, currently teaching CPDM 1 (since February 2015). She is committed and passionate about assisting the ill and injured workforce to combat barriers that prevent them from returning to the workplace.
As an online instructor for IEA, I enjoy the being able to connect with students from various backgrounds and the online classroom allows me to share my knowledge and passion for disability management, while learning from student experiences. Instructing fulfills my desire to influence others while gaining knowledge and building relationships with students that last beyond the online classroom environment while they enhance career goals as, Disability Management professionals.
Current affiliations include: Disability Management Employers Coalition (DMEC) Oregon/SW Washington Chapter and Oregon Workers’ Compensation Claims Association (WCCA).
She also enjoys spending time with her children and grandchild, reading and researching case study/law as it pertains to disability management, and working on home improvement projects
