Workers’ Compensation Origins and Overview

CPWC (Claims Practitioner in Workers’ Compensation) is a 24 unit certification program developed to meet the needs of emerging claims practitioners. This program offers comprehensive training in foundation principles required to become a certified California WC Claims Adjuster and provides the required 120 classroom hours. Presented at a practical desk level, this curriculum includes learning tools such as case studies and soft skills along with technical information.  Components of the CPWC will also help fulfill certification requirements for California WC Medical Review or Medical Only adjusters.

Module 22 – Death and Dependency Benefits

In this 22nd module, we will be examining claims for which death benefits are claimed. In addition to providing an overview of the benefits available, we will be looking at the unique qualifications the dependents must meet in order to receive dependency benefits.   Practically, the information will provide a guide map to allow you to confidently handle a death claim from beginning to end. You will be provided and completing a dependency worksheet, which will allow you to properly identify who is a dependent and in the nature of that dependency.
